Design: Leblas Eco Jewellery

April 15th, 2010. No Comments

Leblas' full collection of jewellery, no matter how delicate the design, are destined to be statement pieces because they showcase such impeccable artistry. With inspiration deeply set in designer, Arabel Lebrusan's Spanish heritage, Leblas offers time-tested, beautifully constructed pieces that showcase Filigree (delicate twisted threads of silver and/or gold), Damascene (interlacing gold on steel or other metals- a trademark design of Toledo, Spain for centuries), and handmade Gold Sequin Chains.  Each piece is crafted with sustainable practices, that are culturally, socially and environmentally responsible.

Lebla's collection of engagement and wedding rings are the perfect way to share your love with that special someone in your life. Constructed ethically and socially conscious, these rings are made with love in mind from the start. The beautiful conflict-free diamonds, and recycled platinum, and precious white and yellow golds are the ideal way to start a beautiful new life together.

Starting this April 2010, Leblas is teaming up with Urth. Urth, also committed to ethical practices and sustainability, will bring in more delicate patterns of the Leblas signature filigree, adorned with enameled candyfloss pastels for this Spring season. The soft colours added to the metal craftsmanship will range from spearmint to soft lilac. If you are in London, visit Leblas on 149 Sloan Street to support ethical jewellery and an inspiring sustainable business, or shop online: HERE.

Forever Fashion: The Original & Best Workwear Boots That Will Last a Lifetime

April 14th, 2010. 3 Comments

The kind folks at Rubbersole sent me a brand new pair of gorgeous Dr Martin's in white in time for the Spring.

Now although Dr Martin's is not an ethical brand as such and mostly made of a leather upper and rubber sole (a no-no amongst many of us). These boots are without a doubt virtually indestructible through wear and tear alone.

'Forever Fashion' is all about products which stand the test of time and which are timeless and classic. Dr Martin's are a piece of design history from their workwear origins to punks to the grunge movement and back around again and these fit into that category. I seriously doubt that I will ever need another pair of boots again with these strapped to my feet!

I would love to see a vegan or recycled leather range evolving from the brand, taking them forward into the 2000's and beyond. Dr Martin's is an iconic brand that will no doubt still be around  in another 50 years time.

Forever Fashion: Vegan Shoes: Form and Fauna

April 14th, 2010. 6 Comments

As a vegan, it can sometimes be more challenging to find cute, cruelty-free shoes. But as the times change, vegan-friendly kicks are becoming more and more available. Even if you are not vegan, perhaps you would like to buy shoes that make less of a global impact, while still looking fashionable.

My latest favorite is Form and Fauna. These shoes are not only vegan, they are sustainably made with organic cottons and hemps, one-of-a-kind vintage fabrics, and the highest quality synthetic leathers available-- all with water-based, non-toxic glues. If you think they sound great, take a look for yourself... they are just as cute.

Their old site also has a lot of their previous collections too. Happy vegan-shoe shopping.

Forever Fashion: The Garden Collection by H&M

April 13th, 2010. 1 Comment

As the sun starts to shine and temperatures rise, La Luminata are dreaming of long summer evenings in floral dresses, floaty kaftans and cropped linen trousers.

The new 'Garden Collection' by H&M satisfies our cravings! Taking inspiration from sundrenched landscapes, chlorophyll-green gardens, and 70s hippie chic flower-power, the collection is feminine and romantic with an exotic twist.  Nude, ruffled dresses meet floaty, floral kaftans and vivid blue shorts.

La Luminata love the floral bustier, pictured above. Combining the key trends of Spring/Summer; underwear as outerwear and floral print, this is a must buy!

All garments in the collection are made using sustainable materials such as organic cotton and linen, recycled polyester and tencel.

Forever Fashion: The Frockery

April 5th, 2010. 3 Comments

I love vintage clothing and am always looking for new gems to help fill my wardrobe with one-of-a-kind pieces that keep my stylish bones happy. What I always like to say is that vintage shopping is a form of recycling, and there's no better way to help the environment than to reuse and recycle.

The Frockery is an amazing online store based in Angus, Scotland specialising in pre-owned vintage, and retro clothing and accessories, I am hooked. The Frockery says it best on their website:

"If, like us, the sight of rail upon rail of soulless, mass produced high street clothing does nothing to inspire you; if you want to find something a bit different to make your wardrobe more interesting, but don’t have a lot of time (or money) to make it happen; if you want a hassle-free way of selling your new or nearly new items that are taking up valuable space in your wardrobe; or if you just want to dress for less, then The Frockery is the place for you!"

I love to browse their collection of dresses, footwear, and also find some of the best deals on their Clearance tab, to name a few. See for yourself, and shop vintage!
